In 1974 a group of IBF board members recognized the need to support access to justice efforts across Illinois, ultimately creating a grants program to support legal aid organization providing meaningful access to the civil justice system, especially for those with limited means. Over the years these grants have supported critical services for victims of domestic violence, families facing eviction, or asylum seekers, just to name a few.
